Aboriginal Employment Strategy

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to ensuring all Tasmanian Aboriginal people benefit from a growing economy.

Today we are releasing the finalised Tasmanian State Service Aboriginal Employment Strategy to 2022 that demonstrates how we are working to close the gap in employment inequality experienced by Aboriginal people.

It is important Government leads by example, which is why this three-year plan sets out a number of strategies to increase the proportion of Aboriginal people working in the State Service to 3.5%.

The Strategy aims to attract, retain and support Aboriginal people in the State Service by building a culturally diverse, safe and respectful workplace, while fully representing the community it serves.

Through the 2019-20 State Budget we are maintaining the momentum, while investing for growth, and the Budget includes new funding of $542,000 to support activities and initiatives that demonstrate that our commitment today to the Reset is as strong as ever.
