Today I put forward a motion condemning the Green-Labor Government for its ongoing inaction on child protection.

Three months after the 13th damning report into child protection in Tasmania since 2005, the Government has still not responded to the 176 recommendations of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Child Protection.

The Greens and Labor are desperate to prop up their wrecked budget and it is Tasmanian mums and bubs who are now being asked to pay the price.

The Green-Labor Government is continuing to fail our children and it's no surprise that the Commissioner for Children has been forced to remind the Government of its obligations to young people.

The Government has been reviewing the youth justice system since 2008, yet it still hasn't done anything. How long do they need? This is just another area of systemic failure that this Green-Labor Government is responsible for that is having a negative impact on the community.

Vulnerable Tasmanians are now bearing the brunt of Labor and the Greens' cruel budget cuts, with waiting lists for Individual Support Packages skyrocketing.

At the same time last year, 224 Tasmanians were on waiting lists for ISPs, but that has now skyrocketed to 364 - a massive 62.5 per cent increase!

The Liberals know that cost of living pressures are being felt by thousands of Tasmanians on a daily basis.

But the Green-Labor Government's move to establish a Parliamentary Inquiry to further investigate the problem, on the back of a $500,000 Cost of Living strategy, is not the answer Tasmanians are looking for.
