Child protection has blown-out as revealed in the latest DHHS progress report snuck out by the Minister late today under the cover of the AFL grand final.

The figures reveal:

" A massive increase in unallocated child protection investigations from 0 to 36;

" Yet another increase in the number of children in out of home care - now 963, up from 893;

" A 17 per cent increase in the number of notifications referred for investigation.

Last week's Auditor General's report into children in out of home care showed that Tasmanian children are already falling through the cracks and budget cuts, with more children to care for, we will see children put at risk.

The figures also show an increase in the median waiting times at the state's biggest public hospital - figures that are bound to get worse given the looming budget cuts.
