Jacquie Petrusma MP
Shadow Minister for Children

Wednesday November 23, 2011

24 hours after his abysmal inability yesterday to advise when a long overdue review of the criminal code relating to child sex laws would be complete, the Attorney General was still none the wiser in parliament today.

Sexual Assault Support Services CEO, Liz Little has confirmed she handed the Green-Labor Government a raft of recommended changes last year in relation to children giving evidence which she says would improve the prosecution process for child victims.

In failing to prioritise a promised review of child sex laws, including the Evidence Act, and failing to be able to even provide a timeframe for the final report, the Attorney General is continuing to fail Tasmania's most vulnerable children.
