Minister for Women
2017 Scholarship Open To Put More Women On Boards
24 August, 2016

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to increasing the number of women on boards as a critical step to improving democratic governance.

The Government has a target of achieving 50 per cent representation of women across Tasmanian Government boards and committees by July 2020.

The Women on Boards Strategy 2015-20 puts a stronger emphasis and greater accountability on the Tasmanian Government and the Tasmanian State Service to lead by example and appoint more women to board positions.

To help achieve this, the Government is partnering with the Australian Institute of Company Directors to offer corporate governance education scholarships.

This program is about giving more Tasmanian women the opportunity to learn the skills they will need to serve as company directors, including potentially on government boards and committees.

Applications for the second year of scholarships, which will be offered in 2017, are now open.

The scholarships are being offered for the Company Director Course (CDC) and the Foundations of Directorship.

Applications close COB Friday 16 September 2016. For further information and to apply online go to
