The next initiative is the system-based initiative which will determine the benefits provided from the use of an information communications and technology system to enable support coordination and client outcome monitoring.  This initiative will also examine methods for improving service planning, reporting, evaluation and research through data collection for analysis. 

The last initiative is the privacy initiative which will support the activities of Joined Up and any future service rollout resulting from the initiatives.  The initiative will review current information-sharing processes and barriers to sharing information, while protecting clients and their rights.  The initiative will develop a shared understanding of what is possible under current legislation in sharing personal information for service practice.

The current phase has seen the procurement of a consultant to undertake a social network analysis of the Huon Valley service system.  A forum held in October 2015 helped in understanding the connectedness of the service system and what a highly collaborative service system for the Huon Valley would look like.  The forum gathered ideas on how the service system could be strengthened to inform future actions.  This work is being used to inform the social network analysis in the development of an action plan.  Much work has also gone into the person and service initiatives.  This work has resulted in the design of a service system that will support people with multiple and complex needs.  Key community sector stakeholders were consulted to develop a set of service principles.  The procurement for services that support the person, service and systems initiatives is being undertaken, along with the procurement of research and evaluation services.  There has been a very high level of interest and goodwill shown by all stakeholders to these initiatives.

The department is continuing to work in close collaboration with key community sector stakeholders as well as representatives from across all relevant government agencies.  This project has continued to collaborate with other similar inter- and intrastate projects to ensure the learnings from each are being shared.  Representatives groups include the Oversight Steering Committee, which is made up of senior department staff and four key non-government-sector representatives, and the place-based Huon Valley Lead Working Group, which includes six service providers and one Joined Up team member.

As a government we have been delivering on our long-term plan to grow the economy and create jobs.  We have the Budget back on track and therefore can now invest the dividends of all the hard work back into core human services such as preventing family violence; increase gender equity; housing; child protection; disability services; and children, young people and families.
