Notice of Motion – World Down Syndrome Day 2015

Madam Speaker, I give notice that on tomorrow I shall move that this House notes that:
- 21 March 2015 is the 10th anniversary of World Down Syndrome Day, a global awareness day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012.
- World Down Syndrome Day is a day to celebrate the lives and achievements of those living with Down Syndrome and plays an important role in promoting the inclusion of people with Down Syndrome in all aspects of life and encourages support for their dignity, rights and well-being.
- World Down Syndrome Day encourages everyone all over the world to help raise awareness of what Down syndrome is, what it means to have Down syndrome, and how people with Down syndrome play a vital role in our lives and communities.
- The Liberal Government is committed to supporting people living with disability and has committed to a range of measures to improve accessibility for people living with disability, including the continued roll out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
